Drilling Fluid Grade
Bentonite is a naturally occurring clay mineral supplied by ARASCO Conster Action Limited as a core viscosifier and fluid-loss control additive for oil, gas, and water-well drilling operations. Sourced through our trusted mining and processing network, our drilling-grade Bentonite is available in API and OCMA specifications.
Bentonite is an absorbent aluminum phyllosilicate clay, primarily composed of sodium montmorillonite, formed naturally through the weathering and sedimentation of volcanic ash. Its defining property is an exceptional ability to swell and hydrate in water — expanding to many times its dry volume — which allows it to increase fluid viscosity, suspend and transport drill cuttings, and form a thin, low-permeability filter cake along the wellbore wall.
