Mineral & Industrial Raw Material
Silica (Silica Sand / Quartz Sand) is a versatile industrial mineral supplied by ARASCO Conster Action Limited to customers across glass manufacturing, foundry, ceramics, construction, and chemical processing industries.
Silica is a naturally occurring mineral composed primarily of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), most commonly encountered in its crystalline form as quartz. It is chemically inert, thermally stable (with a melting point of approximately 1,710°C), and rated 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, giving it excellent abrasion resistance. To qualify as commercial silica sand, material must typically contain a minimum of 95% SiO₂ with low iron oxide content.
| Grade | SiO₂ Content | Fe₂O₃ (Iron Oxide) | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Industrial Grade | 95% – 98% min | Below 0.6% | Construction, filtration, general industrial |
| Foundry Grade | 98.5% min | Below 0.5% | Metal casting, molding sand (AFS graded) |
| Glass Grade | 99.5% – 99.8% min | Below 0.03% – 0.1% | Container glass, flat glass, fiberglass |
| High-Purity / Optical Grade | 99.8%+ | Below 0.008% | Optical glass, specialty/electronics applications |
